Are they a fad, a gimmick ………. or can QR codes be useful when marketing a property?
I believe that if you use it correctly, there is some purpose for a QR code in real estate. When driving around a while back, I remember seeing literature boxes containing listing fact sheets of the home they so proudly stand in front of. I stop the car, flip the lid open, pull out the last brochure, only to find a couple of stapled pages that had battled a rain storm a few days prior. The ink ran across the pages and it wasn’t too easy to make out what I was reading.
Rather than a brochure box, why not put an 8.5×11 image of a QR code on the stand with a small message below stating …… scan me to receive a complete marketing package and virtual tour of this home?
I emphasize the size because too many times, realtors add the QR code to their sign riders …. and the code is only 1″ x 1″ large? Now what is THAT going to do???
Remember to make your QR code LARGE enough so that someone can scan the code right out of their car window. Make it CONVENIENT for the potential home buyer to scan the code.
“SIZE DOES MATTER!!!!!”
Same thing with using QR Codes in PRINT ADVERTISING. I’ve tried scanning some of the codes in the paper. THEY’RE WAY TOO SMALL!!” My camera scanner isn’t picking it up because it can’t focus on something THAT SMALL.
Bottom line is that QR Codes can be used effectively. Just remember to place them in a prominent place that can easily be accessible and remember to print them LARGE enough so that it’s easy for a customer to scan them!!!
